Regola bill would require warrantor registration SB 1448 would safeguard consumers of vehicle protection products Senator Bob Regola (R-39) has introduced legislation clarifying how vehicle protection products sold with warranties will be handled in the Commonwealth. Senate Bill 1448 would require warrantors of vehicle protection products to register with the Department of Insurance, demonstrate the financial ability to cover warranty obligations, and provide disclaimers and claim procedure information in their warranty agreements. Vehicle protection products include alarm systems, body parts marking, satellite tracking systems, and other similar anti-theft devices. “The financial responsibility and disclosures will significantly protect consumers who purchase these products,” said Sen. Regola. “These requirements are straightforward and would not impose an undue burden on the businesses that provide vehicle protection products.” Twenty-three (23) states have enacted similar legislation with bills pending in several more. SB 1448 has the support of the National Vehicle Protection Association and the PA Automotive Association. SB 1448 has been referred to the Banking and Insurance Committee for its consideration. ### Contact: Nathan Silcox (717) 787-6063
